Croke Park Press Release; Progressive GAA club, Parteen is the first club in Clare to receive national recognition. They made history earlier last year when they launched their complete smoke free club policy, the first of its kind in Munster, setting a positive example for young members. The club is now the picture of health decorated with smoke free signage (provided by the GAA through a CSR partnership with Irish Life), ensuring that all members and visitors are aware of the club’s commitment to health. The aim was to set a positive example, create a healthier club environment and reduce initiation rates among young people. The club also provides a regular social outlet for men through the recently established Men’s Shed group, and parents through the Mammas and Pappas exercise group. The aim to increase adult participation in exercise, using the club’s facilities, while the kids are training.
