Well done to all the teams that played last week and the very best of luck to those playing this week.
MINOR CAMOGIE COUNTY FINAL:
Hard luck to our Minor Camogie girls, amalgamated with Broadford, on their loss to Ruan in the County Final. It was a very close match
PROPOSED AMALGAMATION:
By now you will all be aware of the proposed full amalgamation of Parteen GAA & Camogie Club and Meelick GAA Club. An email has been sent to all club members regarding the proposal - if you did not receive it and would like to to please contact parteengaacamogie@gmail.com
As an Executive Committee we believe that this proposed amalgamation will greatly assist our parish in bringing GAA and Camogie to ALL our parish. We already have a solid foundation for the proposed new club with both clubs bringing together as one over 200 years of history, experience & camaraderie.
If you would like any further information, we would encourage you to attend the information evening this Friday 16th September at 8pm, in Parteen GAA & Camogie Clubhouse.
Please make a note of the date of the Special General Meeting, Tuesday 27th September 8.30pm, when the proposal will be voted on. Meelick GAA Club will hold their Special General Meeting on the same night, at the same time.
** It is important to note that, according to the GAA rules, ONLY members paid & registered before 31st March 2022 will be eligible to vote at the Special General Meeting. Those eligible to vote will be contacted by a member of the Executive Committee in the coming days.
We look forward to your support in building and further developing a future in GAA and Camogie for the whole parish.
OFFICIAL CLUBHOUSE OPENING & FAMILY FUN DAY:
On Saturday we celebrate the opening of our new Sports Hall, another chapter of our Club development programme. The development started in 1980 with the purchase of the sports field in Lanahrone and the official opening in 1984. The club has developed substantially since then with huge thanks to our Field Development Committee, setup in 2002. They began with drawing up a plan to develop the GAA field that would be implemented over several years - fencing, drainage, astro, carpark, upgrading of dressing rooms and finally the development of the sports hall / clubhouse which was completed in 2019.
In order to celebrate this huge event in our history we are incorporating the Official Opening with a Family Fun Day.
This will be a day for all ages - activities for our youngest members in the astro and our oldest members can enjoy a cup of tea and a bun in the 'Club Shop' and listen to some of our very talented members showcase their musical talents. There will be something for all ages. Visit the 'stands' in our new sports hall - opportunity to buy club merchandise (on sale), why not get a health check. Feeling hungry?? There will be a complimentary barbecue for all ......... and an ice-cream van!!
For those juvenile members that would like to show off their baking skills we are challenging you to enter a competition for the best Parteen GAA & Camogie Club themed cake / buns. Happy baking!!
Come along and join your friends and neighbours and help celebrate this wonderful event. See you Saturday.
